Neighborhood activation is a coordinated effort from public agencies in partnership with communities to improve neighborhood safety and well-being through changes in the built environment (physical spaces), programs and events, and policy. In collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ), L+L designed this “playbook,” a guide for NYC residents on working with city resources to activate public spaces in their neighborhoods. A main project goal was making the playbook accessible to not only New Yorkers but also policy makers in other cities who might be inspired by NYC’s example.
