Alphabeat is an innovative video-based learning tool that reinforces speech therapy lessons by teaching kids how to beatbox. It was created by Beat Global, an arts education organization that uses Hip Hop to improve kids’ and teenagers’ physical and emotional wellbeing.
We were inspired by the idea that practice and repetition are the most important key to success in both beatboxing and speech therapy. We developed an identity system consisting of typographic and image-based ‘stickers,’ which mix and match to create a visual shorthand system for the phonemes that make up each lesson. They act as fun, quirky mnemonic devices that reinforce beatboxing rudiments and vocal articulations.
